We came in to check in. The 2 ladies there ( one was named Paris, I don’t recall the other ladies name) were so happy and pleasant and helpful. The check in was very easy. We got to our villa, and it was so clean and fresh, and smelled beautiful. The view from our villa was beautiful. We ended up paying for another nights stay because everything was so perfect.
Park = 👍
Villa = 👎👎
The beach here is gorgeous and overall the caravan park is nice. Excellent pool and fun play area for the kids. We booked a three bedroom family villa which was disappointing. It’s very tiny, which we expected, but even though it was an 8 bed cabin it only accommodated 6 at the table, which was annoying for our family of 7. (Should one person eat meals on the sofa??) Also, our mattress was the worst—absolutely back breaking. We basically didn’t sleep for the two nights we stayed. The shower was terrible with water spraying everywhere (needs a new shower head). And the gas cooker only had one properly working burner out of four—a tiny one which was hard to manage cooking on as we rotated pots to use the one working burner. Kitchen has the bare minimum. Would be nice to add some basic things like a whisk and strainer. The lounge was also super uncomfortable and old (could feel the springs). If you sorted out the furniture and fixture situation it would hugely improve the guest experience and I’d be leaving another star or two on the review, but as it stands I wouldn’t return unless they could guarantee the horrible old mattresses have been replaced. I can live with other inconveniences, but no sleep on holiday is a deal breaker! It’s a shame because the actual beach is spectacular.
Stayed on foreshore grass site. Great spot so much room. We had a beautiful spot overlooking the water with a large grass area. Met great people. Straight below is a dog friendly tavern and general store with takeaway food. Caught plenty of squid - really enjoyed our stay.
Rented out beachfront cabins 2 years in a row. Beds are pretty average pillows are atrocious unless you like sleeping on a piece of paper. Last year we got there early so thought we would just try our luck and see if the rooms were ready early, were told they absolutely, definitely were not ready as check in is 2pm. A simple no sorry, would have been sufficient.
Next day asked for additional coffee sachets and were told they were complimentary and management had told them that's all guests get.... I'm sorry but for over $800 for 2 cabins for 2 nights, I'm pretty sure you can spare some bloody coffee sachets.
This year, we had one dog friendly cabin, was told that the other cabin had never ever ever had a dog in it and if there was any evidence of a dog an additional cleaning fee would be charged. What's with the drama!?
Also, if you rely on internet for anything and are not staying in the main park area, organise something else because the WiFi is non existent. My phone couldn't even pick up the park WiFi let alone the tv.
Then we left something behind, I called back on the Monday left a message, no return call. Called today, had to ring 7 times for someone to answer as it goes to message bank after 45 seconds.... got through, got told I didn't leave a message because she had checked them all, wanted $14 postage to send item back. Then when I began providing some 'feedback' about the reception staff, I kept getting cut off and told they were extremely busy.... I'm a sole business owner, I'm busy too!! I love the Yorke Peninsula especially South Beach, but after the atrocious service we've continually received even after spending just shy of $2000 for 4 nights over the 2 years we will be looking elsewhere. Worst customer service in a long time and that's saying something....
Love Pt Huges and Moonta. We stayed here a few times and the ensuites are below standard compared with other parks or even parks half as busy. They always smell of drain/sewage. These pictures are before using the facilities as you can see in poor condition and then mould, hairs on tiles, I purchased an air freshener but it really didn’t work. The area in front of ensuite had been what looked like heavy water and some sort of toilet paper on ground near steps. It’s a shame there’s some good facilities there. We had credit and wife tried booking a specific site in lower park and due to height demand got a different site which we didn’t want and were told no refund or transfer. There goes $140 two nights, won’t be staying again when you can go somewhere else with fantastic service and facilities for a better price. Also why do some parks even if it’s empty put people right next to you? No it wasn’t busy over stay period.
Great locale,beautiful cabin,and with privacy. Wonderful kitchen but would be good to provide scissors. No wardrobes seem to be the thing these days, which is weird as the kids room would be very crowded with suit cases on floor etc. In addition the two single beds making one bed is also I thing I have encountered a lot and I'm not a fan, especially when one bed is raised higher than the other as in Rm 11.
Towels thin and no bath mat, this could be better given cost.
After a long trip on the road, you want a decent place to pitch up an crack a cold one. Unfortunately Big 4 in Port Hughes can't live up to this promise. …
Spend two nights. The caravan park is really lovely, very open and has great, clean facilities. It definitely has the best camp kitchen I ever seen. Our cabin was lovely and clean. …
